Osteopathic Regional Groups

Location: UK wide

For osteopaths, access to a community of colleagues who have the shared experience of training and working in osteopathy can offer an invaluable network of support. This may be particularly so for osteopaths who work largely alone, either as sole practitioners or in remote areas. An osteopathic community in your area can provide an opportunity for local osteopaths to get to know each other, benefit from professional networking or serve as a CPD hub. It can also provide a forum for peer discussion, lectures, and sharing clinical expertise – helping to prepare you for the new scheme.

This table lists the regional groups in each region of the UK.  Regional groups provide inexpensive CPD for osteopaths, they also encourage osteopaths to work together for the benefit of the whole profession and reduce the risks associated with working in isolation.

Is there is nothing in your region or range of interest? Do you think there is a need for representation? To support, establish, maintain and develop local osteopathic groups, the Osteopathic Development Group has published the Communities of Practice – a guide to setting up and sustaining a vibrant peer group .

Meeting with osteopaths and getting to properly understand the concerns and challenges they face in practice is a top priority for GOsC Chief Executive Tim Walker. Tim has spoken about, and discussed the new CPD scheme with osteopaths around the country. If you can gather a reasonable number of colleagues or would like Tim to attend a forthcoming meeting of your local or regional group, please contact Stacey Towle.
