The Dorset Osteopathic Group will host a ‘Foot Symposium’ on Saturday 12th October at the Dorford Centre Dorchester from 9.30am (registration 9am) until mid-afternoon. There is some flexibility on finish time so CPD certificates will follow by email afterwards. It is anticipated that the symposium will account for at least 4 hours CPD for those attending all day.
The symposium is open to physical therapists including osteopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists and sports therapists, GPs with an interest in the topic are also welcome.
The morning session will feature the following speakers:
– Nick Savva, a local Foot and Ankle & Trauma surgeon talking about foot conditions, differentiating between them and current orthopaedic approaches.
– Matt Wallden, Registered Osteopath & Naturopath, Chek Practitioner and Barefoot Running expert talking about the evidence around foot and ankle tendon dysfunction and how it arises. Subject to time Matt may also be able to demonstrate some assessment and rehabilitation techniques.
The afternoon session will be a ‘therapists’ forum’ to enable participants to share their different physical therapy approaches to the conditions discussed in the morning. The aim of the sessions is to allow for the cross-fertilisation of ideas, techniques and input where people wish to discuss particular anonymised cases. This session will be kicked off by a Dorset group member demonstrating and discussing his approach to plantar foot pain using a mix of soft tissue, manipulation and shockwave therapy.
The symposium costs £50 for Dorset Osteopathic Group members and £65 for non-members. The fee includes coffee and light lunch. Please note it may not be able to cater for all food requirements, email for further details.
