Do you know or your colleagues know how to deal with a first aid emergency if it happened in your practice? It could be as simple as a colleague burning themselves with a kettle, someone tripping down the stairs or more serious if a patient is experiencing a seizure, stroke or even cardiac arrest.

Are you also aware that if you work in a clinic of five or more practitioners, then there should be someone who is a registered first aider? Although you could say perhaps that this is is even more important if you are working on your own.

Whether you’ve previously been trained in first aid, and wish to brush up on your knowledge or have not had any formal emergency first aid training before but wish to learn, then this course is for you.

Our First Aid courses are always popular and this time it will be hosted by the British Red Cross (BRC). The BRC course meets the Health and Safety Executive standards for emergency first aid in the workplace and is valid for three years. It will teach you:

  • How to carry out life saving first aid
  • How to deal with burns
  • How to deal with bleeding and wounds (embedded object etc.)
  • How to deal with seizures
  • Health and Safety First Aid regulations including accident recording and reporting requirements.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session, delegates will be able to:

  1. Recognise and deal with the likely first aid situations which might arise in clinic.
  2. Carry out life saving first aid where appropriate.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of first aid regulations and reporting requirements.
